چکیده
Recent methodological developments have uncovered the etiological diversity of potato blackleg and soft rot Pectobacteriaceae. At least five species in genera Dickeya Pectobacterium been confirmed to cause on potatoes Finland. The bacteria are seed borne remain latent tuber until conditions favourable for growth, multiplication infection prevail. Tubers could be infected by one or more these species. This short communication is based results molecular detection data collected than 14 years from lots produced Diagnostic PCR assay specific solani, atrosepticum, carotovorum, P. brasiliense parmentieri revealed that species; it also single common multiple colonization. An event simultaneous occurrences different strains appears frequent observed between absence co-occurrence solani atrosepticum intriguing.

Detection, identification and differentiation of Pectobacterium and Dickeya species causing potato blackleg and tuber soft rot: a review
The soft rot Enterobacteriaceae (SRE) Pectobacterium and Dickeya species (formerly classified as pectinolytic Erwinia spp.) cause important diseases on potato and other arable and horticultural crops. They may affect the growing potato plant causing blackleg and are responsible for tuber soft rot in storage thereby reducing yield and quality. Efficient and cost-effective detection and identific...

This paper briefly reviews research on the causative agents of blackleg and soft rot diseases of potato, namely Pectobacterium and Dickeya species, and the disease syndrome, including epidemiological and aetiological aspects. It critically evaluates control methods used in practice based on the avoidance of the contamination of plants, in particular the use of seed testing programmes and the ap...
متن کاملOccurrence of Parthenogenesis in Potato Tuber Moth
Parthenogenesis, a natural form of asexual reproduction produced from unfertilized eggs, occurs in many insects in Hemiptera and Hymenoptera, but very rarely in Lepidoptera. The current study aimed to test the larval density dependent occurrence of parthenogenesis in potato tuber moth, Phthorimaea operculella (Zeller; Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) under laboratory conditions. More than 10% of femal...

The aim of this study was to examine factors affecting adoption of mini-tuber seed potato. Survey research design was used in this study. A sample of 100 potato growers who were informed about mini-tuber was selected and divided into adopter and non-adopter groups. Questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection and was validated by a panel of experts. A pilot study was conducted f...
متن کاملSimultaneous detection of major blackleg and soft rot bacterial pathogens in potato by multiplex polymerase chain reaction‡
A multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay for simultaneous, fast and reliable detection of the main soft rot and blackleg potato pathogens in Europe has been developed. It utilises three pairs of primers and enables detection of three groups of pectinolytic bacteria frequently found in potato, namely: Pectobacterium atrosepticum, Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum together wi...
